Games Run in 2016

Brimstone Club

System: Sorcerer (the Ron Edwards one)

Participants: 3-4

Pitch: You are students at an elite boarding high school. Also, you summon demons to do your bidding. Or maybe just to be your friends. That'll work out well. No system knowledge required (but more copies of the book are always welcome!).

Tone: Psychological & demonic horror.

Player requirements: High school age or over, I think. A willingness to go there. Emotional intelligence & maturity; let's check in and keep each other safe as players.

Archipelago

Game rules system: Archipelago

Number of participants desired: 4 - 5

Pitch: This is a game without a single, dedicated game-master. Instead every player will use moves on each other, encouraging people to dive deeper into some content, avoid other content, and even replay scenes with a different tone. The game we get will be the game we all want.

Player requirements: To harmonize us a bit, I'm going to require that we all read the same book, or perhaps watch a few films, before we play. THESE WILL BE GROUP SELECTED, not just picked by me. They could even be web-comics or Netflix shows. The point is that it will be fresh on everyone's minds, even if we (hopefully) got different things out of it.

Urban Shadows

Players Wanted: 4-5.

Pitch:  It's Urban Shadows.  Also I have a coloring book of unkeyed city maps we can use.

Adults only, please.

Maze of the Blue Medusa

This surreal and gorgeous adventure was wrought from the stuff of fevered dreams...

Infinite broken night. Milky alien moons. Wavering demons of gold. Held in this jail of immortal threats are three perfect sisters...

Maze of the Blue Medusa is a dungeon. Maze of the Blue Medusa is art. Maze of the Blue Medusa works with your favorite fantasy tabletop RPGs. And Maze of the Blue Medusa is the madly innovative game book from the award-winning Zak Sabbath of A Red and Pleasant Land and Patrick Stuart of Deep Carbon Observatory and Fire on the Velvet Horizon.

Lethal gardens, soul-rending art galleries, infernal machines—Maze of the Blue Medusa reads like the poetic nightmare of civilizations rotted to time, and plays like a puzzle-box built from risk and weird spectacle. Art by Zak Sabbath; text by Patrick Stuart and Zak Sabbath.

This will be run using the Swords and Wizardry White Box as a light medium for role-playing simulation.

Games Run in 2015

Dark

Age Range: 18 - 99

A stealth, action RPG. The game is unfinished, so we'll use the quick-start characters (which can be customized) and create a little bit of setting in which to undertake some heists.

I'll prepare locations, we'll play to find out what you're stealing and why.

Dungeon World - Journey into the Unknown

Age Range: 13 - 99

Do you remember how great it was playing DnD with your friends when you were younger? Dungeon World is the game that plays the way you remember DnD, without the actual rules of DnD. Join me as we play to find out what happens. No prep, characters created at the table, and even I have no idea what is going to happen. The only thing I do know it it will be fun.

Primetime Adventures

Age Range: 13 - 99

No need to set your DVR! We're going to blast through an entire season of Primetime Adventures 3e in one weekend!

Primetime Adventures is the award-winning game of ensemble TV drama. It supports any kind of setting that would make a good TV show.

Three to five players (including me). No prior experience is necessary.

We will all make the final decision on what sort of show we're playing during the first session.

Check local listings (at Google+) for more details

The Mountain Witch

Age Range: 16 - 99

-- No previous experience required, rules will be taught at the table. --

As you watch the night sky start to gray over what appears to be a sea of clouds, you recall how you ended up on top of the icy slopes of Mount Fuji. As a ronin, you were use to a hard and lonely life, traveling from village to village, looking for whatever employment you could find. So naturally, when you were approached this time you quickly accepted the offer, though not fully realizing what you were getting into. Now you find yourself far from help on top this cold rock preparing for an assault on O-Yanma, the Mountain Witch himself. At your side is a group of men you neither know nor want to know. A group of men who all carry a similar story as
yourself.

Who knows what the dawn of this day will bring? How will desperate men incapable of trust react when their only means of survival is to rely on each other?

Worlds Without Master

Age Range: 16 - 99

Gather to me, for tonight we shall seek thrills in a land that is as alluring as it is dangerous. You, my ravening wolves, shall describe your character struggling against hardships so that their coming glory may be ever greater.

In one shared world of fantasy grandeur, rogues take pulpy swords and sorcery to new heights. We will play games published in Worlds Without Master magazine in one world. We will explore recurring characters, locations, and themes.

The Games, to date:
* Swords Without Master
* Enter the Avenger
* Wolfspell
* Sorceress Bloody Sorceress
* A Scoundrel in the Deep
* Invisible Empire
* No Longer With Us
* Masks of the Mummy Kings
and any other game released before con!

The majority of these games are like musical jam sessions for describing fantastic heroes in action. Less role-playing than describing, overall.

No previous experience required, rules will be taught at the table.

Mythender

(Saturday Night One-Shots)

Age Range: 16 - 99

Turn your game up to 11! Mythender is the RPG that lets you kill gods. . . in the tutorial! We will play an intro session of Mythender geared toward those who have not gotten a chance to experience this Most Mettle of RPGs. By the end of the night you will have fought valkyries and killed Thor! The only question is if you will die in the process, take his place, or set your sights on Odin. If registrants have previous Mythender experience we will decide at the convention on alternatives to the tutorial.

Remember Tomorrow

(Saturday Night One-Shots)

Age Range: 12 - 99

Gm-less cyberpunk in a world five minutes into the future.
Insidious factions stand in the way of our characters, who are trying to get Ready, Willing, and Able to fulfill their goals.

This ingenious, fast-paced game is heavy with crosses and webs of counter-double-crosses that will rapidly tangle our protagonists into a super cool story.
